Blog Award!

Wow, I received the Kreativ blog award from Cheryl at Mommy Quit Her Job ! Thanks Cheryl! So in return, I’m supposed to share 7 things that you may not know about me. This actually might be a tad difficult since I’ve already disclosed so much in this blog about myself (haha). But here goes:

1. When I was a child, I was playing house under the ironing board with my sister. I shook the board pretending that a hurricane was brewing and the iron fell on my head! I was okay but it definitely taught me to not play under the ironing board any more!

2. I used to be a bit of a pyromaniac. When I was a child, I was playing with a candle and set my pants and the dining room table cloth on fire! Oops. My sister screamed for my parents and my quick-thinking dad stomped out the flames with a tissue box. Phew!

3. Despite childhood mishaps (see #1 and 2) I’ve never broken a bone in my body. In fact, the delivery of Leah was the first time I have been admitted to the hospital.

4. I was in a Sympatico Internet ad campaign during the 2004 Olympics. The ad was posted on Sympatico.ca and several of my friends happened to come across the ad while surfing the Internet. Check it out! Go Canada Go!

5. I’m kind of a TV junkie. I love TV and follow a LOT of TV programs which surprises quite a few of my friends since I generally have a pretty packed schedule. Some of my favourites are: Glee, Gossip Girl, The Good Wife, Weeds, Big Love, Project Runway, Top Chef, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Fringe, Heroes (not as good anymore), Lost (I’m totally confused), How I Met Your Mother, etc. I was so sad to see Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls go off the air and I still miss those shows a LOT!

6. I love period films! Particularly anything by Jane Austen or written in the Victorian era. For a significant part of my life I was convinced that I should have been born in that time period rather than this one.

7. I have a phobia of driving. I really dislike driving and dread having to drive anywhere. I know I have to get over it eventually but I still hate it! This fear might have developed due to the awful Chinese driving instructor that yelled at me all the time at my driving lessons…to the point of tears!

In terms of 7 people I would pass this award onto, I pick:

  1. PhotoFoo – A Toronto photographer’s attempt at the 365 Day photo challenge. He’s doing a great job and has some interesting posts and photos
  2. Pacing the Panic Room – Honest and heartfelt posts about life as a dad and photographer
  3. LisaTong.com -The blog of a longtime friend that I first met in University who blogs about life in HK, parenting and technology. We were recently reunited through her Chinese Soup Lady site
  4. JustBee – I’ve been following Bee since her WeddingBee blog and now she’s a new mom and documenting her adventures on her blog JustBee. She’s a great example of how great blogging can turn into a full-time job.
  5. Clebton’s Blog – My husband Clayton’s blog documenting his adventures as a new dad. It’s still in its infancy but it has promise.
  6. Tim Chin Photography – An amazing pair of photographers post some of their best photos from their photo shoots. Amazing wedding, engagement and maternity photos including ours!
  7. Listen to Lena – A personal blog listing great shopping deals, contests and recipes!

HAHAHAH… I would have never have guessed that the first time you were admitted to the hospital was with Leah.

I sympathize with you about the Chinese driving instructor. I originally had an instructor from Young Drivers (which was not Chinese) and I was fine for my G2. When it was time for the G test, I opted to go for the cheaper driving school and was taught only how to drive the route of the test (ie on the highway). My Chinese instructor yelled at me, made me feel really incompetent but I ended up passing the test. Unfortunately though it will be close to 10 years that I have not driven on the highway because I have no idea when to exit, when to get on etc… still only know that one route to the test center and the Science Center. HAHAH

So many new things I’ve learned about you :)

And wow… I think the 8th thing should be that you read ALOT of blogs!

Yep, it’s those Chinese driving instructors that ruin it for us. Easy to pass the test but they mess you up in the long run.

I guess I could add that I’m an Internet junkie… especially now that I’m home all day with Leah!
